Yard Hand/Mechanic I - Rental Equipment

Role Description This is a full-time on-site role as a Yard Hand/Mechanic I at Mike's Westside Rental at our Weatherford, TX branch. This role may lead to other opportunities within the company.

As a Yard Hand/Mechanic 1, you will be responsible for:

• Preventative Maintenance: Follow a consistent schedule for performing preventative maintenance on all MWR-owned fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure longevity and reliability.
• Equipment Operation and Testing: Operate and test equipment to verify compliance with MWR quality and efficiency standards.
• Routine Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on all MWR fleet equipment and trucks under the direct supervision of senior mechanics.
• Diagnostics Assistance: Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing issues with small tools and light rental equipment.
• Major Repairs: Perform major repairs on fleet equipment using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments, under direct supervision.
• Service Tasks: Conduct oil changes, lubricate equipment, replace tires, repair hoses, replace batteries, and perform assorted services as needed.
• Work Order Management: Enter work orders and manage part ordering through the fleet management system to ensure timely repairs and maintenance.
• Warranty Knowledge: Learn and understand what is covered and not covered by warranties to effectively manage repairs and maintenance.
• Work Area Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
• Reporting: Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs to document maintenance activities.
• Compliance: Follow all company procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Additional Duties:

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall maintenance operations.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials weighing up to 50–75 lbs
• Perform frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing on and off equipment throughout the workday
• Ability to stand and work on hard surfaces for extended periods
• Work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions typical to Texas
• Safely load and unload equipment onto trailers and trucks
• Exposure to dirt, dust, noise, vibration, fuels, oils, greases, propane, and cleaning chemicals
• Ability to operate basic hand and power tools and follow safety procedures
• May be required to wear steel-toe footwear, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and other PPE

Additional Requirements:

Valid driver’s license w a clean record

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
