Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Shop Assistant to support daily operations in our equipment dealership and service shop. This role includes assembling new equipment, operating a forklift to unload deliveries, maintaining inventory, sharpening mower and chainsaw blades, performing light-duty mechanical work, assisting technicians, and keeping the shop and yard clean and organized. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-minded, and takes pride in quality workmanship and a well-run shop.
Responsibilities
- Assemble new equipment according to manufacturer specifications
- Operate a forklift to unload trucks and move equipment safely
- Unload incoming shipments and whole goods deliveries
- Load equipment for customer pickups and deliveries
- Sharpen mower blades and chainsaw blades accurately and safely
- Perform light-duty mechanical tasks and basic equipment service
- Maintain accurate inventory of whole goods and shop equipment
- Organize equipment in the shop and yard
- Keep the shop, lot, and work areas clean and orderly
- Assist service technicians as needed
- Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Forklift experience preferred (training may be provided)
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic hand and power tools
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Dependable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Prior experience with lawn equipment, power equipment, or shop work is a plus, but not required
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug test
Schedule & Pay
- Full-time position
- Tuesday–Saturday schedule (closed Sunday & Monday; occasional extended hours during peak season)
- Pay based on experience
