Role Description: This part-time (with full-time potential), on-site role in Anchorage, Alaska combines medical receptionist responsibilities with clinical care support in a busy midwifery and women’s health environment. Day-to-day tasks include greeting clients, managing check-in and check-out processes, answering phones, triaging calls, and scheduling appointments. In addition, processing client payments and other duties as assigned. The role also involves coordinating client flow, maintaining accurate demographic and insurance information, and supporting electronic medical records. Clinical support duties may include maintaining/ordering supplies, sterilizing instruments, laundering gowns and drapes, as well as processing medical records requests, reporting births to the State of Alaska, and performing blood draws. The position requires working closely with midwives and other team members to ensure a welcoming, efficient, and client-centered experience.
Qualifications
- Front desk and client-facing skills, including receptionist duties, appointment scheduling, and strong phone etiquette.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in a medical office or similar healthcare setting is preferred.
- Attention to detail with accurate data entry, record keeping, and organizational skills.
- Clear, compassionate communication skills and the ability to interact sensitively with clients and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based care environment and to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Basic proficiency in Google Workplace Apps (Docs, Sheets, etc...) and willingness to learn new tools.
- Knowledge of basic EMR software
- Prior experience in women’s health, midwifery, or reproductive health settings is helpful but not required.
- Reliable and timely with work assignments.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework in healthcare administration or medical assisting is an asset.
