Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including evaluating wound etiology, size, depth, exudate, and infection signs.
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans utilizing advanced techniques such as debridement, dressings selection, and skin grafting when appropriate.
- Administer specialized treatments as part of patient care.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate treatment strategies and ensure optimal healing outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on wound management techniques, infection prevention, and lifestyle modifications to support recovery at home.
- Maintain meticulous medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in wound care practices through ongoing clinical research participation and professional development.
Qualifications
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license
- Demonstrated experience working with complex wounds across various settings including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and patient tracking.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, infection control protocols, and advanced wound management techniques.
- Experience administering injections such as Botulinum toxin treatments and performing procedures like suturing or sterile dressing changes.
- Critical care experience including ICU or emergency room background highly desirable.
- Familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes and understanding of Workers' Compensation law is advantageous.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate diverse patient populations effectively.
- Pay is $150.00 per visit
