Your responsibilities will include:
Core Responsibilities
- Clinical Oversight
- Supervise and coordinate nursing care in pre-op, intra-op, and post-op areas.
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and infection control.
- Monitor patient care quality and outcomes.
- Oversee perioperative process for patients with understanding of pre-operative checklists.
- Staff Management
- Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate nursing staff.
- Provide mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and manage shift coverage.
- Administrative Duties
- Participate in Surgery Center Committee's and represent clinical aspects in decision making.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, CMS).
- Oversee documentation, patient records, and reporting.
- Patient and Family Communication
- Serve as a liaison between patients, families, surgeons, and staff.
- Address patient concerns and ensure a positive experience.
- Quality Improvement
- Lead initiatives to improve patient safety and satisfaction.
- Analyze performance metrics and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in audits and accreditation processes.
- Operational Efficiency
- Collaborate with other departments for seamless care delivery
- Provide back up when required to monitor levels of consciousness and vital signs
- Treat post-operative side effects of anesthesia medication such as pain or nausea
- Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care as indicated and evaluates for effectiveness
- Measure and record patients' vital signs
- Update charts, patient files, and medical records
- Collaborate with the medical team on post-operative patient care and facilitate timely specialized interventions
- The ability to work effectively and initiatively in problem solving
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public
- Ability to respond to stressful situations in calm and effective manner

- Knowledge of all confidentiality requirements regarding HIPAA and strict maintenance of proper confidentiality on all such information
Requirements
- An associate's or Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN)
- Kansas State RN license
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Must have excellent communication skills, be extremely organized, detail oriented and be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- At least 5 years of experience as a nurse in surgery setting and 2 years supervision experience. Preferred experience in a free-standing ambulatory surgery center.
- At least 1 year of experience in pre-op and PACU required. Experience in intraop preferred.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record system
- Ability and knowledge starting difficult IV
- Advanced knowledge of best practices in patient care
