Floating General Manager

Midwest Refrigerated Services is a full-service 3PL company providing refrigerated logistics services for the food industry. Based in Milwaukee, WI, we operate the largest fresh 48 state LTL consolidation pool with more than 100 trucks, and offer multiple sites with cooler, and air-conditioned storage, distribution, and cross-docking services.  We operate refrigerated and non-refrigerated warehouses for storage needs but also Value-Added Services such as specialty packing, kitting and fulfillment needs. The Floating General Manager is directly responsible for the overall performance of one or multiple facilities.  This manager will deliver quality performance through developing a culture where employees excel, strive for improvement, anticipating issues and creatively solving problems.

General Accountabilities:

1. Will travel between multiple sites, based on company needs.
2. Create and maintain a safe work environment.
3. Adhere to all regulatory compliance.
4. Adhere to all Food Safety / Food Defense compliance.
5. Maintain exceptional sanitation.
6. Fair and professional treatment of all associates.
7. Develop an optimal customer mix.
8. Forecast and maintain staffing levels.
9. Development of a high performing team.
10. Drive process and performance improvement.
11. Interface with other business units.
12. Develop & review budgets and forecasts.
13. Maintain & full utilize IT Systems for multiple locations.

Task Specifics:

1. Foster engagement with all employees creating a culture of inclusion, skill development and a sense of community that mirrors the Midwest Values.
2. Create and maintain a safety culture that promotes a safe work environment while adhering to OSHA regulations, employment laws, and our Midwest Values.  Create and maintain SOP’s and ensure all employees are trained on the SOP’s.
3. Customer Relationship Management which includes the onboarding of new customers, executing all customer requirements and resolving customer complaints and issues.   In addition, conduct regular business reviews with the customer to ensure performance metrics are achieved as well as discuss new service opportunities with the customer.
4. Attend and coordinate management team meetings.
5. Refrigeration Systems oversight.
6. Development of and insuring adherence to MRS policies and procedures.
7. Stay abreast of regulatory changes and communicate relative information throughout the company.
8. Providing productive feedback to subordinates and establishing development plans.
9. Resolve customer, carrier, and driver issues.
10. OS & D and claim investigation.
11. Review of incident and near-miss investigations.
12. Ability to identify WMS system issues and work with IT for resolution.  Maximize system capabilities to ensure optimum efficiencies throughout the warehouse.
13. Review of financial statements & labor reports.
14. Review, approve and provide appropriate G/L code of charges prior to invoicing. 
15. Review discipline issued and serve as first step review of employee concern process.
16. Ensure that all job functions have sufficient backup.

Performance Measurements:

1. RIFR (Recordable Incident Frequency Rate) by facility.
2. BRC audit grade.
3. Satisfactory regulatory and customer audit results.
4. Operation performance metrics per customer agreements.
5. Facility financial performance including actual results to plan.
