Parts Night Counter Sales

The Parts Night Counter Sales position is a hybrid role responsible for supporting both front counter and back counter parts operations during evening hours. This position ensures continuity of service when day staff are not present by assisting customers, technicians, and internal departments with parts identification, ordering, fulfillment, and returns. The role focuses on maintaining a high level of customer services, accurate parts processing, and efficient workflow between retail, shop, and internal service needs. The Parts Night Counter Sales employees play a key role in keeping the Parts Department productive after hours by ensuring orders are correctly processed, parts are properly sourced and staged, and customer needs are met in a timely and professional manner.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Front Counter Customer Support
  • Assist retail and internal customers in identifying and purchasing correct parts
  • Answer incoming calls and provide pricing, availability, and product information
  • Process customer orders, returns, credits, and special requests accurately
  • Provide professional, timely service to walk-in and phone customers
  • Ensure customers are informed of substitutions, backorders, and product alternatives
• Back Counter Shop Support
  • Fill parts orders for technicians and internal repair orders
  • Pull and stage parts for service work and ensure timely delivery to shop
  • Review repair orders to ensure correct parts are charged and issued
  • Communicate part availability and delays to service employees
  • Coordinate with warehouse employees to locate and source out-of-stock parts
• Inventory and Order Management
  • Utilize parts systems and catalogs to locate correct part numbers and pricing
  • Assist with ordering special-order and non-stock parts as needed
  • Monitor and follow up on backorders and outstanding customer requests
  • Verify accuracy of parts issued, returned, and credited
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records through proper documentation
• Organization and Team Support
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Assist with warehouse organization and basic inventory tasks as needed
  • Support night shift workflow to ensure smooth transition to day operations
  • Participate in training and development activities as assigned
  • Attend scheduled parts meetings when required

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below are representative of those required. This position operates in a parts department environment with frequent customer interaction, phone and computer use, warehouse exposure, and interaction with service and shop personnel. The role may require lifting up to 75 pounds and working in a fast-paced, after-hours operational setting. Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Prior parts or customer service experience preferred
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills required

Skills Required

• Strong customer service skills with the ability to assist both retail and internal service customers
• Ability to identify parts using catalogs and computer systems
• Basic mathematical skills including pricing, discounts, and percentages
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision during evening hours

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

• Valid driver's license and ability to meet Company insurability requirements preferred
• Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification required
