What are the responsibilities and job description for the HDD Drill Operator position at Midwest Mole?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Directional Drill operator in central Indiana and surrounding areas in the Midwest.
- Be willing to travel during the week when needed. Home most weekends
- Be in a local operators union or willingness to get into one
- Operation of Horizontal Directional Drill Machines
- Operate HDD Locator a plus
- Help with HDPE Fusion
- Not only run the drill but help crew when needed with other tasks
- Help Locate Utilities and know and understand what you will be crossing
- Water and sewer installation and testing a plus
- Solid understanding of trenching and excavation safety.
- Operate Excavators, Loaders, Skid Steer, Backhoe as needed.
- Other duties as requested by the supervisor.
- General Maintenance on the directional drill

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experienced Horizontal Directional Drill Operator
- Fusion experience and certification for HDPE a plus
- Prior experience in underground utility work.
- Class A CDL or willingness to get one is a plus but not required.
- Strong independent work ethic with ability to work within a team.
- Clear and concise communications.
- Strong sense of urgency, focusing on time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Approximately 100% of the position will work from the field.
- Approximately 100% of the position will require travel.
- Some lifting up to 20lbs. is required.
