What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professional Framer & Finish Carpenter - Basement Remodels position at Midwest Basement Remodels?
Job Summary
We're hiring 1 professional framer & finish carpenter to join our remodeling team. We remodel basements from bare foundation walls to finished spaces, and nearly all of your work will be framing and millwork install. You'll need to be strong at both rough framing and finish trim work. We're not looking for a jack-of-all-trades. We want someone who can hit the ground running with very little training in framing and finish carpentry.
You should be able to take on a full basement framing and trim package on your own if needed, though most jobs will be you plus one other teammate. Occasionally you'll help out with other trades (drywall hanging, light prep for paint, etc.) when the team needs a hand, but framing and millwork are your focus.
We value skill and speed, but we care just as much about the person: easy to work with, friendly to our clients and contractors, and eager to learn and grow with us.
What You'll Do
- Frame basement walls, soffits, door and window openings, closets, and occasionally LVL beams, to plan
- Install interior doors, casing, baseboard, window trim, and other millwork with tight joints and clean, crisp lines (staining is not required)
- Read plans and layouts, measure accurately, and make clean cuts
- Handle the full framing and millwork scope from start to finish, solo or with one partner
- Protect finished areas and leave job sites clean
- Coordinate with your project manager, who designs the build and delivers materials to the site
- Help with other trades when needed
What We're Looking For
- Proven professional framing and finish carpentry experience, ideally in residential remodeling
- Strong attention to detail and respect for quality, while still working efficiently
- Ability to run a job independently, read plans, and solve problems on your own
- Reliable, positive, and good with clients
- Your own truck (see below)
Pay & Benefits
- Starting wages of $27.00 – $30.00/hr, based on skill set, not seniority
- Raise at 6 months, plus another raise and 40 hours of PTO at 1 year
- 40-hour work week
- 5 hours of optional OT a week
- 30-minute paid lunches
- Flexible Schedule (We expect 40hrs, but we're flexible with time off)
- 3 oil changes per year for your personal vehicle, starting at hire
- Yearly raises and additional benefits after that, based on quality of work and attitude (full-time, 40-hour employees only)
Truck: You'll need your own truck. We don't provide one, but materials are delivered to the job site and we cover your gas & oil changes.
We don't let good employees go unnoticed. Come join a team that values your skill.
