- Review pleadings, motions, settlement proposals, and litigation budgets.
- Provide direction on discovery needs, deposition targets, and case posture.
Risk & Exposure Management:
- Assess litigation risk and recommend settlement authority levels to carriers.
- Identify high-risk files and develop proactive strategies to mitigate exposure.
Communication & Reporting:
- Maintain regular communication with carriers, counsel, insureds, and internal leadership regarding case status, strategies, and projected outcomes.
- Prepare detailed litigation reports, case evaluations, and reserve recommendations.
Negotiations & Settlement:
- Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and direct negotiations with plaintiff’s counsel.
- Ensure settlements comply with carrier guidelines, state regulations, and internal authority levels.
Regulatory & Procedural Compliance:
- Ensure all litigation files follow jurisdictional rules, reporting requirements, and company standards.
Collaboration & Support:
- Provide litigation guidance to adjusters handling pre-lit files.
- Work cross-functionally with underwriting, SIU, and claims leadership on emerging trends, fraud indicators, or coverage concerns.
Training & Development:
- Train adjusters on litigation processes, jurisdictional requirements, and documentation standards.
- Conduct file reviews to identify training needs and strengthen claim-handling practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, Legal Studies, or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of claims litigation management or attorney-represented claims handling, preferably within a TPA or carrier environment.
