Substitute (2026-2027) (ADM)

A substitute teacher is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Requirements and Procedure:

Substitutes in Midway ISD are required to complete:

A substitute application.  Please be ready to provide:

1. A transcript showing some college hours OR a copy of a current teaching certificate
2. At least 2 non-family references

Substitute checklists. Each checklist will be assigned once the previous one has been submitted by the applicant and approved by an HR staff member:

1. On-boarding paperwork (Assigned to the substitute applicant once the application has been approved)
2. To pass a Criminal history/background check and be fingerprinted through TEA’s database (a fingerprint authorization will be requested once the on-boarding paperwork has been approved)
3. Substitute Handbook Checklist (the checklist will be assigned in conjunction with the fingerprinting process)

Daily Rate of pay: $100 per day - All Levels

Long Term Substitute assignments will see a different pay rate.
