Summary:
- Develops, enforces, and maintains policies and procedures that promote cost-effective, appropriate, and safe drug use.
- Evaluates operations on an ongoing basis using principles of continuous process improvement.
- Develops, implements, checks, and retools action plans to address variances and improve efficiency.
- Supervises pharmacy personnel.
- Develops job descriptions, performance standards, and performance goals.
- Evaluates and counsels staff on their performance.
- Prepares work schedules and monitors workload statistics. Maintains an appropriate staffing level.
- Provides for the educational needs of the pharmacy staff.
- Acts as a positive role model, mentor, and preceptor.
- Promotes individual professional growth.
- Communicates with staff and promotes staff ownership in problem-solving and participation in operational decision-making.
- Prepares a pharmacy budget annually.
- Reviews monthly financial statistics and plans expenditures within budget guidelines.
- Monitors and justifies all expenses exceeding budgeted targets.
- Ensures preparation and submission of patient charges and financial reports to administration in accordance with facility policy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or PharmD degree required.
- Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of Florida.
- 3 years of healthcare pharmacy management experience is required.
