What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT TUTOR-LANGUAGE HUB (Pool) position at Midland College and Careers?
Tutors help with any stage of the writing process on writing assignments for any college course. Examples of content tutors assist with include brainstorming, organization, vocabulary, audience awareness/tone, formatting, paragraph development, MLA/APA formatting, logistics of researching, and editing. This list is not exhaustive.
Required QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent
12 hours of college credit completed with a 3.0 or higher overall G.P.A
Must have completed English 1301 or English 1302 with an “A"
Knowledge of computers/Canvas
Understanding of Word formatting and MLA format
Ability to interact with students on an individual basis or in a group
Ability to speak and write clearly in English
Preferred Qualifications Essential FunctionsActively engage with students in the tutoring process
Help students learn to recognize their own errors and make improvements
Interact with students on an individual basis or in a group
Abide by the Midland College policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Physical DemandsMust be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
Ability to move around the room to assist students
