Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Middletown, CT, for a Long-Term Substitute Teacher (Grade 1). The teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and age-appropriate instruction, implementing the existing curriculum, and fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. Responsibilities also include assessing student progress, communicating with families, and collaborating with school staff to ensure student success and well-being. The role requires a commitment to creating a positive and nurturing learning experience for first-grade students.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Curriculum Development and Elementary Education
- Strong skills in Teaching and classroom management
- Excellent Communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
- Degree in Education or a related field; teaching certification for elementary education preferred
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school community
- Experience working with young learners is a plus
Location: Lawrence Elementary School
Minimum Requirement for Long- Term Substitute Authorization:
- BA/BS
- At least 12 credits in the content/area to be taught (If individual classroom assignment extends beyond 60 days)
Preferred Certification:
- Applicable CT Educator Certifications
Salary: $140 per day for the first 60 days, then salary increased to Bachelor's, Step 3 daily rate starting the 61st day. Entitled to benefits on 61st day as in accordance to the MFT Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Assignment Duration: Immediately through Early March 2026
Start and end time: 8:35 a.m. - 4:01 p.m.
