Position Summary
Answers phones, makes outgoing calls, provides excellent customer service to patients and staff. Effectively communicates with insurance companies and adjusters, referral sources, patients, other departments and all staff members. Manages multi-tasking and pays attention to details necessary to do an accurate job.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Key duties and Responsibilities:
Efficiently managing rehab insurance eligibility.
Initiates correct documentation and processing for each chart with accurately and conscious regard for HIPAA Rules and insurance and organization requirements.
Updates patient insurance and other information in a timely manner to help prevent gaps in coverage.
Answers incoming telephone calls by third ring, offers assistance to callers and properly routes calls to others. Takes messages, referrals and other information as appropriate.
Assists patients and clinicians with understanding benefits.
Reviews patient records with detail to determine compliance, and initiates communication with clinicians and others regarding compliance.
Calls insurance companies to obtain authorization for patient visits, follows up when authorization expires and tracks work to ensure that no authorizations are forgotten.
Works effectively with other front office staff to cover the desk.
Works with Registration to correct account errors and registration problems. Efficiently addresses daily worklists.
Enter insurance authorizations, ICD.10 codes and onset dates into system with 90% accuracy.
Assists with other duties such as cleaning rooms stocking linens, removing soiled laundry bags, and supply ordering.
Organizes work area in a highly efficient manner.
Actively participates in Quality Improvement program by gathering statistics, performing billing audits and other Joint Commission compliance activities, such as Medicare ADR's, addressing write offs, and billing edits.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of electronic medical record systems
Experience working in healthcare
Experience working as a secretary or in a customer service field
Experience with medical terminology
Comfort with working with computers
Experience with healthcare insurance
