Maintenance Services Technician

The Middlesex County Administrator's Office is seeking a reliable and versatile Part-Time Maintenance Services Technician (like a Handyman) to perform a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks across county facilities and parks.

Example of Responsibilities:

• Respond to work requests on the County's work order system
• Perform minor repairs (e.g., fixing running toilets, replacing light bulbs, repairing locks, emptying dehumidifiers).
• Install and maintain street signs, flags or holiday decorations
• Meet contractors and vendors on site to obtain quotes or assistance
• Handle general maintenance such as painting, landscaping, grass cutting, or trail upkeep.
• Transport supplies to operating sites
• Inspect sites for safety and cleanliness
• Empty trash in parks and ensure public spaces remain clean and safe.
• Maintain county vehicles, such as washing and taking them in for oil changes.
• Identify, prioritize, and address maintenance issues proactively.

Requirements:

• A proactive, self-motivated attitude with proven strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Pleasant attitude to get along with others in field work and office environment
• A smartphone for receiving and managing work orders.
• Physical capability to climb ladders and stairs, navigate rough terrain, and lift moderate loads

Position Details:

• Hours: 20-30 hours per week.
• Compensation: Hourly rate, no additional benefits—except the satisfaction of keeping our community in top shape
