Overview
The Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Department of Safety and Health. This position leads business process initiatives aligned with Middlesex County’s strategic goals. Acting as a key facilitator, the Business Analyst gathers, evaluates, and directs ideas from multiple sources to the appropriate business units for effective execution, driving collaboration and measurable outcomes across the department.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate departmental initiatives for cross-functional collaboration and develop metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and impact.
- Support the execution of innovation projects generated through ideation programs by coordinating with innovation points of contact, cross-functional teams, and leadership.
- Review and assess innovative proposals, providing recommendations on the next steps and prioritization.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of innovative-focused events and activities both internally and externally.
- Track, analyze, and report on innovation activity metrics to monitor progress and identify trends.
- Collaborate with Communications and Marketing teams to implement an innovative communication plan that aligns with the County’s strategic objectives.
- Proactively identify potential obstacles or risks to project progress and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
- Partner with department teams to ensure the adoption of best practices and facilitate the implementation of innovative solutions.
- Explore and develop service expansion opportunities, particularly in arts, agriculture, and workforce development sectors, including creating metrics to support operational growth.
- Lead and facilitate cross-departmental innovation initiatives and integration efforts to maximize synergy and impact.
- Provide thought leadership and analytical insights across a range of innovative projects and initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a Business Analyst or related role.
- Must satisfy employer paid physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- NJ residency required by State Statute. R.S.52:14-7.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong qualitative research, data modeling, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven leadership and project management skills, with experience driving cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to identify challenges and propose innovative, practical solutions.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently within defined objectives.
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is:
- $60,000-$75,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
