Position Overview
The Director of Procurement will own the entire supply-chain strategy and execution for the ~1GW renewable portfolio and our thermal development projects. This is a high-impact, board-facing leadership role that directly influences project bankability, returns, and construction timelines. You will lead best-in-class procurement that secures a competitive advantage in an increasingly constrained global supply chain. In this role the Director of Procurement will interface with internal and external counsel to negotiate contracts to execution. Further this role will require staying updated on tariffs, tax credit regulations, and foreign entity considerations.
This position reports to the Vice President of Development. This position is based in Spokane, WA.
Responsibilities
-Develop and execute a 3–5 year global procurement roadmap aligned with the company’s generation development pipeline and annual capex of $1–2B.
-Lead negotiation and contracting of all major equipment and services:
-BESS (cells, PCS, EMS), transformers, HV substations
-Solar modules, inverters, trackers
-EPC, BoP, O&M, and Long Term Service Agreements (LTSA)
-Combustion turbines and reciprocating engines
-Emerging technologies (i.e. fuel cells)
-Extract maximum value while preserving long-term supplier relationships.
-Secure strategic agreements and manage hedging/price-lock strategies in volatile commodity markets.
-Build and maintain a preferred supplier ecosystem (Tier 1 & Tier 2) across Asia, Europe, and emerging domestic manufacturing hubs.
-Own procurement risk management: supply-chain due diligence, geopolitical risk, forced-labor compliance (Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, EU CBAM, etc.), currency hedging, and contingency planning.
-Lead analysis for new technologies (e.g., cost, financability, technical risks).
-Collaborate closely with Project Finance, Development, Engineering, and Legal teams (including external counsel) to achieve contracting milestones.
-Represent the company at industry bodies (e.g. RE , SEIA).
Required Qualifications
-7 years in strategic procurement, with at least 3 years in renewable energy (solar, wind, or storage).
-Proven track record negotiating $100M annual spend and securing multi-year framework agreements with Tier 1 manufacturers (including international).
-Deep understanding of global supply-chain dynamics, Incoterms, LCs, performance bonds, and liquidated damages regimes.
-Zero-tolerance for compliance risk: on anti-bribery, sanctions, and forced labor.
-Experience achieving “domestic content” bonuses under IRA, CFDs, or equivalent mechanisms.
-Strong financial acumen: capex modeling, LCOE sensitivity, NPV/IRR impact of procurement decisions.
-Bachelor’s degree required
-MBA or engineering degree (electrical/mechanical) strongly preferred.
-Professional certifications (CPSM, MCIPS, CPP) preferred.

Compensation: $140,000-$155,000 Bonus
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to Middle River Power. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $140,000 to $155,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
