Domestic Violence & Case Management Caseworker Position (Arabic Speaking Preferred)

About the Position:

The Domestic Violence & Case Management Caseworker Position (Arabic Speaking Preferred) at MIRA is responsible for delivering crisis intervention, advocacy, and comprehensive case management services to individuals impacted by domestic violence and other forms of interpersonal violence. This role also plays a key part in domestic violence prevention and awareness, working to educate the community, reduce risk factors, and promote safety and healing.

As a member of MIRA's team, the Case Manager supports our mission by planning and implementing programs that enhance the safety, economic stability, health, and overall well-being of survivors. This includes outreach, education, and collaboration with community partners to raise awareness about domestic violence and available resources.

The Domestic Violence & Case Management Caseworker (Arabic Speaking Preferred) at the Middle Eastern Immigrant and Refugee Alliance (MIRA) is responsible for delivering crisis intervention, advocacy, and comprehensive case management services to individuals impacted by domestic violence and other forms of interpersonal violence. This role is central to both direct survivor support and community-based domestic violence prevention, including education, outreach, and efforts to reduce risk factors while promoting safety and healing.

As a member of MIRA's multidisciplinary team, the Caseworker supports survivors in achieving safety, economic stability, health, and overall well-being. The role involves planning and implementing survivor-centered programs, coordinating services, and collaborating with community partners to increase awareness of domestic violence and available resources. All services are delivered through a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and survivor-led approach, with particular attention to the needs of immigrant and refugee communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver crisis intervention, emotional support, and safety planning for survivors.
  • Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized service plans.
  • Provide advocacy and referrals for housing, counseling, legal assistance, and public benefits.
  • Assist clients with employment readiness (resume building, job applications) and education support (GED, college applications).
  • Coordinate transportation, interpreter services, and financial assistance for basic needs.
  • Facilitate workshops and community outreach activities to raise awareness about domestic violence.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure confidentiality in all client interactions.
  • Accurately document all client interactions, intake assessments, service plans, and progress notes in Salesforce in accordance with agency, funder, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to provide comprehensive services.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
  • Maintain compliance with Illinois Domestic Violence Program (DVPI) standards and mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Uphold survivor confidentiality, informed consent, and survivor-centered decision-making at all times.
  • Participate in on-call crisis response or emergency support rotation as assigned (if applicable).
  • Manage an assigned caseload and meet documentation, reporting, and service delivery benchmarks.
  • Complete all required documentation within established timelines.

Qualifications

  • Required:
  • 2 years of experience in case management, advocacy, or similar services for survivors of violence.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and domestic violence prevention.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, spoken and written communication.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel locally (valid driver's license required).
  • Experience with or willingness to learn about the Middle Eastern refugee and immigrant experience.
  • Commitment to working with clients from a variety of religious, national, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Commitment to working as part of a collaborative team.
  • Authorization to work in the US (MIRA does not have the capacity to sponsor work visas)
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and manage exposure to traumatic content.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including case management systems, email, and Microsoft/Google tools.
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds (e.g., supplies, materials, donations).
  • Standing, walking, bending, and setting up materials during outreach events and workshops.
  • Working in office, community, and off-site environments. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties may include moving outreach materials, office supplies, or event equipment as needed.
