About The Internship
MBN is seeking motivated and curious college students for its Summer Internship Program. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience inside a fast-paced and fast-changing digital media organization.
Interns will support a range of functions across the organization, with a primary focus on one of two areas:
Editorial operations
OR
Management (emphasis on HR and Finance where applicable)
This program is designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience—not just observation—allowing interns to contribute to active projects and workflows.
This is a paid internship and will run roughly from June to August (exact dates determined based on availability). When applying for the internship, please include in your cover letter your specific area of interest and which track you prefer (editorial or management). Interns will be working on-site at MBN’s new headquarters in Arlington, VA or its Washington bureau near Capitol Hill.

For Editorial Track
Journalism
- Reporting on policy debates and news in Washington and beyond that’s relevant to MENA audiences
- Helping to create video content in vertical/emerging formats
- Writing, editing, and fact-checking articles for MBN
- Support content planning and story development
- Providing editorial and production support for newsletters
- Draft and schedule social media content
- Monitor engagement and analyze performance metrics
- Assist in developing and executing digital campaigns
- Help to create graphics and visual assets
- Assist with maintaining visual consistency across platforms
- Creating effective thumbnails on YouTube
- Turning text into visual products like carousels, memes and infographics
- Working with MOJO kits
- Helping to set up lighting and audio for video shoots
- Using video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere
HR Related
- Assist with recruiting and onboarding efforts
- Support internal projects, including employee engagement initiatives
- Help conceive and plan internal team activities
- Coordinate training sessions, including recommending new training topics
- Assist with compliance tracking
- Help to analyze HR data (turnover, engagement, hiring trends, etc) and build dashboards/reports to enable understanding of data.
- Assist with budget tracking and financial data reporting (Finance)
- Provide cross-functional support – working with internal teams on budget-related questions
- Assist with compliance tracking (HR/Finance)

Qualifications and Requirements:
Candidates are required to have:
- Currently enrolled in college and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in journalism, communication, international relations, management, human resources, finance, or related fields.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent English copyediting skills
- Arabic language skills a plus, not a must
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- A self-starter who takes initiative
- Curious and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative and open to feedback
- Culturally aware and globally minded
Salary : $25 - $30
