Do you love helping families get a healthy start? Are you passionate about nutrition, community wellness, and empowering moms, babies, and little ones to thrive? If so, we’d love for you to join our dedicated WIC team as a Nutrition Counselor!
What You’ll Do
As part of our WIC program, you’ll play a key role in helping families access the nutrition and support they need to grow healthy and strong. Every day brings something new—whether you’re meeting with new parents, running outreach clinics, or celebrating a baby’s first solid foods!
Your days may include:
Screening applicants for program eligibility and nutritional risk.
Measuring height, weight, and blood iron levels for moms and little ones.
Providing one-on-one nutrition counseling and education—especially for pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, and children under five.
Talking with families about healthy habits—prenatal care, immunizations, smoking cessation, and more—and connecting them to community resources.
Traveling to local outreach clinics (within about 45 miles) and making sure supplies and equipment are ready to go.
Handling important administrative tasks like data entry, charting, and participant surveys.
What You Bring
- Coursework in nutrition, dietetics, public health, or a related field (associate’s degree a plus!)
- 1–2 years of experience in health education, nutrition counseling, or lactation support.
- Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for helping others.
- Comfort with computers—Word, Excel, databases, etc.
- A commitment to confidentiality and compassionate, inclusive care.
Additional Details
- You’ll travel regularly to outreach sites (within 45 miles), so you’ll need a valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Background checks (criminal, child protective, sex offender, motor vehicle) are required prior to hire.
- You should be able to lift up to 20 pounds and work comfortably in busy clinic settings.

At MMCA, we believe every child deserves a healthy start and every parent deserves support. You’ll be part of a warm, collaborative team that values wellness, learning, and community connection—plus, you’ll see firsthand the difference your work makes every day.
