Schedule: 4x10hr Day Shifts (8a–6p or 10a–8p; must be flexible)
Position Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Salary Range: $122,531 – $157,793 per year

Position Summary
White Plains Hospital is seeking an experienced Lead Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to guide and support breastfeeding initiatives across the Mother Baby Unit. This role combines clinical lactation expertise, program leadership, and staff education to promote optimal breastfeeding outcomes and maintain the hospital’s Baby-Friendly designation.
The Lead Lactation Consultant collaborates with healthcare providers, staff, and families to create a supportive environment for breastfeeding and newborn nutrition.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert lactation consultation and support to new mothers and infants.
- Assess breastfeeding needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Facilitate prenatal and postnatal breastfeeding education sessions.
- Lead lactation staff orientation, education, and skills competency programs.
- Oversee the Human Donor Milk program and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Support and maintain Baby-Friendly Hospital designation through data collection and education.
- Serve as a clinical resource for physicians, nurses, and patients on lactation issues.
- Oversee and manage the hospital’s pump rental program.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and maintain infection control standards.
- Demonstrate leadership, professional accountability, and commitment to ongoing education.
Qualifications
- Certification:
- IBCLC – International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (Required)
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Education, or related healthcare field (required).
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in lactation consulting or maternal-child health.
- Prior leadership or education/training experience preferred.
Certifications:
- BCLS, NRP, and ACLS (required).
Other:
- Knowledge of current lactation, maternal health, and infant feeding best practices.
- Strong communication and teaching skills with a patient-centered approach.
