The facilities technician I provides support to facility management customers in various company facilities within the assigned district; oversees the functionality and serviceability of building mechanical and electrical equipment and systems; coordinates facility maintenance and repair with contractors; follows compliance requirements for safety, environmental, and North American Electric Reliability Corporation's critical infrastructure protection standards for physical security; and responds to on-call and emergency facility and security situations.


Provide support to facility management customers and travel to various company facilities within assigned district; act as the primary contact for facility issues, including climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage and repairs.

Operate facility access security system as directed to ensure company security procedures are maintained.

Follow regulatory and company compliance requirements for safety, environmental and North American Electric Reliability Corporation's critical infrastructure protection standards for physical security. (35%)

Operate and oversee functionality and serviceability of building management systems, mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.

Use knowledge of uninterruptible power supply systems and emergency generators to maintain a preventive maintenance schedule with authorized technicians to prevent power failure for critical server and computer equipment. (25%)

Communicate and coordinate with outside contractors for services regarding repair and maintenance of equipment, including procurement of quotes and materials, and assembly and disassembly of office furniture systems; and monitor contractor performance to ensure work is completed according to specifications. (25%)

Respond to on-call and emergency situations, including facility, security and safety-related incidents; be available for on-call support 24x7 on a rotating schedule and respond within 30 minutes to assigned work location for an emergency. (5%)

Assume temporary work direction/leadership of contractors on specific projects and facilities staff in the absence of the supervisor, as assigned. (5%)

Participate on special detail teams to plan and execute special meeting events and/or business continuity teams to prepare planned response to crisis situations. (5%)

Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques. " Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the electric transmission and distribution system. "


Eighteen months of post-high school specialized trade or equivalent job skills training, or equivalent work experience. (Typically, four years of related work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not have 18 months of post-high school specialized training.)

Two years' experience in facility management field.

Technical skills and aptitude to operate, test, diagnose and repair building mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.

Knowledge of building management systems, uninterruptible power supply systems, and emergency generators.

Knowledge of assembly and disassembly of office furniture systems.

Physical skills to maintain facilities and grounds, to move office furniture and to repair equipment. Ability to lift 70 pounds.

Effective oral and written communication skills to transmit information accurately, develop and maintain customer relationships and represent the company to service providers.

Effective interpersonal skills, a customer service focus and the ability to work independently and as a member in a team-oriented environment.

Effective organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to make sound business judgments in a timely manner and demonstrated experience with prioritizing and responding under time pressures.

Project management skills to plan workflow, coordinate projects and resolve conflicting demands; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Administrative skills to maintain fiscal responsibility and regulatory compliance within department guidelines.

Personal computer skills; experience using Microsoft Office software products.

Ability to provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating schedule and respond within 30 minutes to assigned work location for an emergency; must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel to various work-site locations within assigned district on demand.
