Maintenance Mechanic – MRF/Compost Operations
About the Role
Mid Valley Disposal is looking for a hands-on, safety-driven Maintenance Mechanic to support our Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and Compost operations. This role is essential to keeping our equipment, systems, and facilities operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, MRF/Compost Operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Troubleshoot and repair equipment including conveyors, grinders, balers, compactors, and related machinery
Respond to urgent repair needs and support emergency maintenance situations
Complete daily work orders and accurately document maintenance activities
Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures
Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications
Maintain tools, parts, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition
Support facility maintenance such as lighting, plumbing, and minor building repairs
Communicate equipment issues and parts needs to the Maintenance Supervisor
Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations
What We’re Looking For
Required
High School Diploma or GED
2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, recycling, compost, or waste management environment
Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and reliability
Familiarity with OSHA and general industrial safety standards
Comfortable using computers, Microsoft Office, and maintenance management systems
Preferred
Technical certification or formal training in mechanical or electrical systems
Experience working in MRF, compost, recycling, or heavy industrial environments
Bilingual in Spanish
