What You Do

As a Benefits Navigation Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting persons in our community with navigating the Medicare and Medicaid systems. Building relationships with each person on the caseload, completing required documentation, may include coaching to ensure satisfactory completion of each step in the selection and enrollment process within the local communities in the Isabella, Gratiot and Clare area.

While this position required flexibility to be able to work an occasional weekend or evening shift, primarily you will work Monday - Friday 40 hours a week. You also will be eligible for benefits after an introductory period. Health, vision, and dental insurance is available with two health insurance options currently available. We offer 12 paid holidays including the week between Christmas and New Year. We also have a generous amount vacation and sick time. We also offer 401k and after one year, tuition reimbursement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, psychology, counseling, disability studies or related field.
  • An Associates degree and completion of three (3) years of professional experience providing advisory services will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills; able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with persons requesting serves, staff and other members of the community.
  • Ability to present complex information clearly and empathetically to diverse populations.
  • Comfortable with both phone and in-person client interactions.
  • Commitment to providing non-biased guidance to empower client decision-making.
  • Experience and proficient in Microsoft Office programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of the Medicare Program
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Prior experience supporting elderly populations.
  • Background in a consultative or advisory role.
