Overnight Staff

Position Summary:

                The Overnight HTS is responsible for providing supervision support and care to residents during overnight hours and ensuring residents are safely and appropriately prepared for the upcoming day. The Overnight HTS is responsible for maintaining the home during the overnight hours and completing the residents’ morning routine, including preparing residents for work, day programs, appointments, and other scheduled activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Overnight Responsibilities:

• Provide appropriate supervision and support to residents throughout the overnight shift.
• Maintain a safe, secure and quiet environment while residents are sleeping.
• Complete required overnight checks and documentation according to residents’  needs and company requirements.
• Respond appropriately to resident needs during the night.
• Monitor the home for safety concerns, maintenance issues, or other situations requiring attention.
• Complete required documentation, communication logs, data sheets and other assigned paperwork.
• Complete appropriate household tasks during period when residents are sleeping.

Morning Routine:

• Wake residents according to their individual schedules and needs.
• Assist residents with completing their morning routines.
• Encourage residents to participate in their own morning care and daily living activities as independently as possible.
• Assist with hygiene, dressing, breakfast, medications and other morning responsibilities as assigned and permitted.
• Ensure residents have everything they need before leaving the home (Including lunch bags)
• Communicate any concerns, changes, or issues regarding residents to the appropriate staff or supervisor.

Household Responsibilities:

• Prepare breakfast and assist with meal preparation as needed
• Clean the kitchen and other areas used during the shift
• Complete laundry, dishes, trash removal, light cleaning and other household duties as appropriate.
• Prepare the home for the incoming shift.
• Ensure supplies needed for the morning routine is available.

Productivity & Engagement Expectations:

                The Overnight HTS is expected to remain attentive and productive throughout the shift. When residents are sleeping and all required supervision is being maintained, staff should use available time to complete documentation, cleaning, laundry, organization, meal preparation, and other assigned household duties.  The primary responsibility is the safety, supervision, and well-being of the residents followed by ensuring the home and residents are prepared for the next day.
