What are the responsibilities and job description for the Habilitation Training Specialist position at MID-DEL GROUP HOME INC?
Position Summary:
The HTS is responsible for providing active support, supervision, and meaningful engagement to residents throughout the shift. Staff are expected to remain attentive, involved and productive rather than sitting idle.
Primary expectations include:
- Spend time actively engaging with residents through conversation, activities, games, exercise, outings, hobbies, and other appropriate interactions.
- Encourage residents to participate in activities that promote independence, social skills, and daily living skills.
- Assist residents with personal goals activities outlined in their individuals plans.
- Provide appropriate supervision and support at all times.
- Encourage residents to help with household tasks when appropriate such as cooking, cleaning, laundry and organizing.
- Keep residents involved in the daily routine and avoid unnecessary periods of inactivity.
- Complete documentation, data sheets, communication logs, and other required paperwork accurately and timely.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home.
- Complete cleaning, laundry, dishes, meal preparation, organizing, and other household duties when residents are appropriately engaged and immediate residents’ needs have been met.
- Look for productive tasks to complete throughout the shift rather than waiting to be told what to do.
- Communicate resident needs, concerns, activities, and important information to other staff.
Staff Expectations:
The priority is the residents. HTS staff should be actively engaged with and supporting residents whenever possible. When residents are resting or do not require direct engagement, staff should use that time productively to complete household duties, documentation, preparation, and other assigned responsibilities.
