Mid-Continent Group is seeking motivated candidates for our Underwriting Internship, starting April–May through the summer of 2026. This hybrid internship, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, offers a comprehensive understanding of the Underwriting Department and its collaboration with other business functions. Internship Responsibilities
Interns will engage in meaningful assignments across various underwriting functions. Responsibilities include:
- Assist underwriters in evaluating and analyzing risk for commercial general liability insurance policies.
- Research industry trends, market conditions, and competitor analysis.
- Support the preparation of underwriting reports and documentation.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on risk assessment and policy development.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary information for underwriting decisions.
- Assist in the review and processing of insurance applications and renewals.
- Learn and utilize underwriting software and tools to support daily tasks.
Networking
Interns will connect with peers, employees, and leaders across the company. Activities include networking with fellow interns, lunch-and-learns, and long-term career development.
Qualifications
We’re looking for candidates who demonstrate:
• GPA of 3.5 preferred (3.0 minimum for consideration)
• Proven leadership through work experience, internships, campus involvement, or extracurricular activities
• Strong communication, analytical, planning, and organizational skills
• Self-driven and adaptable, especially in hybrid or virtual work environments
• Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program; Insurance & Risk Management majors encouraged
• Preferred graduation date: May 2027–2028 (not required)
