Job Summary
Mid City Management is seeking a reliable, organized and proactive Assistant Property Manager to support the day-to-day management of our residential properties throughout Monmouth County and surrounding areas.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable communicating with tenants, coordinating vendors, visiting properties and making sure open items are followed through to completion. The right person will not simply pass along problems. They will gather the necessary information, recommend next steps and help move each issue toward resolution.
This position has the potential to grow into a Property Manager role with responsibility for an assigned portfolio.
Schedule
This is a full-time, primarily Monday through Friday position. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for property emergencies, showings or time-sensitive issues.
Responsibilities
- Respond to tenant questions, maintenance requests and property-related concerns
- Coordinate maintenance vendors, contractors and service appointments
- Follow up with vendors and tenants until issues are fully resolved
- Assist with apartment inquiries, showings, applications and leasing coordination
- Complete routine property inspections and document any issues
- Coordinate apartment turnovers and confirm units are ready for new tenants
- Track open maintenance items, violations, inspections and required repairs
- Assist with annual insurance and municipal inspections
- Maintain accurate property, tenant and vendor information in Buildium
- Obtain vendor estimates and compare pricing when needed
- Communicate clearly with property owners, tenants, vendors and internal staff
- Assist with rent collection follow-up and tenant account questions
- Help maintain organized records, photographs, invoices and property documentation
- Identify urgent issues and escalate them appropriately
- Provide regular updates on completed work, outstanding items and next steps
Requirements
- At least two years of property management, real estate, facilities management or related experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with excellent follow-through
- Able to manage multiple properties, vendors and deadlines at the same time
- Comfortable visiting properties and handling issues in person
- Able to assess a situation, gather information and recommend a practical solution
- Professional and confident when communicating with tenants and contractors
- Comfortable using property management software and task-management systems
- Buildium experience is preferred but not required
- Proficient with email, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and willingness to travel between properties
- New Jersey real estate license is a plus but not required
Pay: $24.85 - $29.93 per hour
