Duties
- Safely operate buses and other commercial vehicles according to traffic laws and company policies, ensuring passenger safety at all times
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition, mechanical functionality, and compliance with safety standards
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing support for children, seniors, or individuals with special needs as required
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior while adhering to sanitation protocols
- Respond promptly to traffic changes or emergencies using defensive driving techniques and emergency response procedures for transportation
- Communicate effectively with passengers, colleagues, and dispatchers using clear language and multilingual skills when needed
- Follow school policies or organizational guidelines for behavior management and child safety when transporting students or minors
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory depending on jurisdiction
- Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving roles with knowledge of vehicle codes and heavy lifting safety practices
- Certification in first aid and CPR; knowledge of emergency stop procedures and traffic laws essential
- Strong communication skills; ability to work well with children, seniors, or diverse communities; multilingual abilities are a plus
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems for basic troubleshooting and maintenance awareness
- Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies with calmness and professionalism
- Knowledge of school bus driving policies or childcare regulations if applicable
- Physical stamina for long periods of driving; capable of performing tasks such as loading/unloading passengers safely
