We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to support attorneys in a busy civil litigation law practice. The ideal candidate will assist with case management, document preparation, and client communication in matters involving workplace disputes, compliance, and litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, correspondence, and discovery materials
- File documents in state and federal courts, including electronic filing (e-filing)
- Manage case files, calendars, and deadlines to ensure compliance with court rules
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witness materials
- Coordinate depositions, hearings, and client meetings
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Conduct basic legal research and gather case-related documents
- Maintain billing records, time entries, and expense tracking
Qualifications
- 1 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal (labor & employment experience preferred)
- Familiarity with employment law concepts (e.g., discrimination, wage and hour, wrongful termination)
- Experience with e-filing systems (state and federal courts)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Experience with legal software (e.g., case management or document management systems)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of EEOC procedures and filings
- Experience supporting litigation matters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Paralegal certificate is a plus
