Construction Project Manager (Contract)

Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable senior construction leader to oversee all aspects of large-scale, mission-critical construction projects from initial design coordination through final turnover and warranty support. This individual will serve as the primary point of accountability for ensuring that complex infrastructure projects — including data centers and other technically demanding facilities — are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full alignment with operational requirements. A typical day involves leading cross-functional meetings with landlords, general contractors, design teams, and operations stakeholders; reviewing construction progress, schedule, budget, safety, and quality metrics; identifying and mitigating project risks; coordinating procurement and commissioning activities; conducting site walks; and delivering executive-level updates to senior leadership.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all phases of large-scale construction projects, developing detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities across multiple workstreams.

  • Lead meetings and maintain alignment with landlords, general contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, and operations stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Monitor and manage construction progress against schedule, budget, safety standards, and quality metrics, taking corrective action as needed.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks proactively, escalating issues to leadership with recommended solutions.

  • Coordinate procurement activities and oversee commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness processes.

  • Review, recommend, and approve contracts and cost estimates, ensuring alignment with project scope and organizational standards.

  • Confer with management, production, and technical staff to discuss project specifications, procedures, and evolving requirements.

  • Present and explain proposals, reports, and project findings to clients and executive stakeholders.

  • Recruit, assign, direct, and evaluate project team members, overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence.

  • Analyze technology, resource needs, and market conditions to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.

  • Conduct regular site walks to verify construction quality, safety compliance, and adherence to design specifications.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience managing large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or data center construction projects.

  • 8+ years of experience in construction project controls including schedule management, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and contract administration.

  • 8+ years of experience in stakeholder management and technical coordination across design, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.

  • Substantial experience delivering complex infrastructure projects such as data centers, healthcare facilities, semiconductor plants, or industrial facilities strongly preferred.

  • Proven experience serving as an Owner's Representative on large, technically demanding construction programs.

  • PMI or PMP certification preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • PMP or PMI certification preferred.

  • Data center or mission-critical facility experience highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness processes preferred.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills suited to managing multiple stakeholders simultaneously.

  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and drive accountability across large, cross-functional teams.

  • Deep knowledge of construction project controls including schedule management, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and contract administration.

  • Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contracts.

  • Knowledge of commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness processes for mission-critical or technically complex facilities.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.

  • Proficiency with project management software such as MS Project, Visio, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
