As a Staff Firmware Engineer on the backend NAND flash controller team at Micron Technology, Inc., you will build groundbreaking high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems. You will assist in the evaluation, creation, build, bench testing, debugging, and failure analysis of firmware for new high-performance memory controllers and Solid State Drives (SSD) that will improve performance, while reducing power, latency and SoC (System on Chip) complexity for the target sectors. You can expect to partner with multi-disciplinary engineers to develop multi-functional product features on cutting edge NAND technology. You will also triage failures, file bug reports, and help the development teams with isolating, debugging and fixing issues. This position will interact with system and media architecture teams to architect, design and develop firmware features coinciding with the latest NAND nodes and backend ASIC HW architectures.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$127,000.00 - $269,000.00 a year
Additional Compensation May Include Benefits, Bonuses And Equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement firmware for advanced NAND flash controllers and Solid State Drives (SSD).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to compose, build, and test innovative firmware solutions.
- Triage and debug issues, perform failure analysis, and file detailed bug reports.
- Integrate firmware features with the latest NAND technology and backend ASIC HW architectures.
- Lead and mentor engineers, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related area.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded firmware development.
- Proficiency in Python and other scripting languages.
- Expertise with storage interfaces such as PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS.
- Proven ability to work independently and prioritize multiple priorities effectively.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in the storage industry, particularly with SSDs and non-volatile storage technologies.
- Knowledge of AI code development and analysis tools like Tabnine and Claude Code.
- Previous technical leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of system and media architecture for NAND flash technology.
