Job Summary:
The Facilities & Safety Manager reports to the Executive Vice President of Operations and is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, safety compliance, and regulatory compliance of the office and manufacturing facility, ensuring a productive, secure, and environmentally sound workplace that supports core business operations and meets all regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities Management
· Operations & Maintenance: Oversee daily building operations, maintenance, and repairs for all systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, machinery).
· Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for equipment and infrastructure to minimize unplanned downtime and extend asset life.
· Project Management: Plan and manage construction, renovation, and upgrade projects, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
· Vendor & Staff Management: Supervise facilities staff, cleaning crews, security, and third-party contractors.
· Budgeting: Administer and control budgets for contracts, equipment, and supplies.
· Space Management: Manage space allocation, workplace planning, and facility layout.
· Property Management: Interface with Property Management to report deficiencies in services and/or resolve any building issues.
Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)
· Policy & Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, ensuring adherence to OSHA, EPA, and local regulations.
· Inspections & Risk: Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments; implement corrective actions.
· Training: Develop and deliver safety training (Lockout/Tagout, HazCom, Emergency Response).
· Incident Management: Lead investigations, root cause analysis, and reporting for incidents and near misses.
· Hazardous Materials: Oversee safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
· Emergency Preparedness: Manage emergency action plans and response readiness.
· Records Retention: Create and maintain accurate safety records, including training logs, inspection reports and incident documentation.
· Reporting: Prepare and present reports on facility performance, safety metrics and compliance to senior management.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering or equivalent experience.
· Eight years’ relevant facilities and/or EHS experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment.
· Minimum 3 years of supervisor experience in facilities and/or EHS roles within a manufacturing / industrial environment.
· Strong knowledge of EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA) and building codes.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Mechanical/electrical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
· Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and relevant software.
· Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and priorities.
· Plan and manage facility expansions, renovations and reconfigurations as needed, working closely with production and engineering teams.
· Ensure the facilities meet all applicable building codes, environmental regulations and local ordinances.
· Excellent organizational, decision making, problem solving, and collaboration skills required.
· Proficient in MS Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
· OSHA and EPA certifications.
· Certified First Responder.
