SUMMARY

The Engineering Technician performs activities required to support, monitor, troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes and products. They are also responsible to supporting process and new product development through validating processes prior to production and supporting training of manufacturing on new products and processes.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provides technical support, training and oversight to production in order to meet quality, cost, and on-time delivery goals.
  • Resolves production issues using root cause analysis and establishing corrective actions
  • Performs class-room technical training for specific tasks and require associated certifications (ex. J-STD-001 etc.)
  • Builds, tests and evaluates engineering samples and prototypes
  • Utilizes lean manufacturing tools to improve quality and reduce waste (Standard work, 5S, Flow, Kanban systems etc.)
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities related to production processes
  • Participates in sustaining engineering activities (process and router updates)
  • Oversees new product introductions to validate new manufacturing processes
  • Develops, maintains and updates work instructions and other related documentation
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime when necessary to meet business needs

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this role do not include supervising other employees; however, Engineering Technician positions offer opportunities for career advancement.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Degree or Certificate in Electronics or equivalent preferred


LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English


JOB SKILLS

  • Manufacturing experience in a custom make to order environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills – able to identify and analyze data and resolve problems in a timely manner. Develops alternative solutions to problems and corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach/train others effectively.
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma Tools
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills – able to explain complex operations and methods clearly and concisely. Technical writing experience preferred.
  • Able to participate in and advise cross functional project teams
  • Formal Problem-Solving Training (RCA, PDCA, 8D, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with ERP system preferred
  • Co-operates with others and treats all with respect
  • Accepts responsibility for own actions. Willingly accepts feedback from others


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. According to ADA regulations, reasonable accommodation will be provided to ensure that individuals with disabilities can perform the job's essential functions.


PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas
  • Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas
  • Hearing protection in specific locations
  • Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas
