Job Summary

Under the general direction of faculty, senior research personnel, and/or managers, responsible for the operation of a specialized educational/social science research area within a recognized unit. Helps develop, design, and conduct research projects according to plan. Consults with users to refine or adapt methodologies to fit specific research requirements, collaborates in the development of new techniques, and develops instruments. Collects, screens, and participates in data analysis. Conducts literature reviews and may contribute to or be the sole author of articles and grant proposals.

Responsibilities*

  • Draft and edit manuscripts, abstracts, and reports; support grant-related writing as needed.
  • Support qualitative data collection (interviews/focus groups), including developing guides and managing study materials.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities and create participant-facing materials.
  • Manage study operations (scheduling, meeting notes, tracking milestones).
  • Assist with data management and analysis (qualitative coding; basic descriptive stats if applicable).
  • Create dissemination products (slides, infographics) for academic and community audiences.


Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree completed or in progress in a field of social science (e.g., anthropology, psychology, sociology, social work, public health)
  • Minimum 1 academic year of experience in the human subjects research area, preferably on federally/foundation-funded contracts and/or grants
  • Previous experience with community-engaged research
  • Previous experiences or training in mixed-methods research
  • Previous experience or training in social science data collection methods and survey research
  • Previous experience or training in the use of design software (i.e., Canva or Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Competency with Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace
  • Able to manage time, organize, and complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Personal commitment to high-quality work and exceptional attention to detail
  • Regularly exercise good judgment with regard to setting priorities


Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience and proficiency with data collection tools (i.e., Qualtrics)
  • Previous experience and proficiency using data analysis software for qualitative data (i.e., MaxQDA)
  • Experience and proficiency in creating infographics for policy, academic, and lay audiences
