Position Summary:
We are seeking an energetic and student-centered 8th Grade ELA Teacher and 9th Grade ELA Teacher with a strong understanding of middle school learners, a commitment to academic excellence, and the belief that all students can and will succeed.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging instruction aligned with grade-level standards, using assessment data to drive decisions, and fostering a learning environment that is safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver standards-based instruction aligned with Michigan ELA benchmarks
- Set growth goals for all students and monitor progress using assessment tools
- Design daily lessons using backward planning and school curriculum resources
- Differentiate instruction using technology and various strategies to meet diverse student needs
- Foster a classroom culture that promotes respect, academic ownership, and engagement
- Implement behavior systems that support a positive, consistent learning environment
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, behavior, and supports
- Participate in IEP or intervention meetings as needed
- Collaborate daily with grade-level and content area teams
- Attend professional development and engage in ongoing instructional coaching
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or ability to transfer license to Michigan
- English (BA or BX) endorsement required
- Two years of successful teaching experience preferred, especially in urban or charter settings
- Strong classroom management and culturally responsive practices
- Professional growth and a collaborative mindset
Pay: $48,000.00 - $60,500.00 per year
