Librarian, Public Services and Outreach

Kellogg Community College

The Librarian for Public Services and Outreach provides dynamic, student-centered library services that advance teaching, learning, and community engagement. Serving as a primary point of contact at the Information Desk and through virtual reference, this position delivers high-quality research assistance, technology support, and individualized instruction to a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and community patrons. The librarian develops subject-specific research guides, supports Allied Health programs as a liaison, and collaborates with faculty to integrate information literacy into the curriculum through in-person, remote, and embedded instruction, with a strong focus on student success, retention, and completion.

In addition to instructional and reference responsibilities, this role leads and supports library outreach and engagement initiatives, creating programs, events, and digital content that promote library resources and services on campus and in the community. The position contributes to collection development and maintenance, with particular expertise in health sciences resources, and participates in assessment, budgeting, and grant-related activities. As a faculty member, the librarian engages in shared governance, serves on college committees, and maintains active involvement in professional organizations, bringing forward best practices, emerging technologies, and a commitment to innovation, equity, and lifelong learning.

Occasional travel to other KCC instructional sites in the service region may be expected to provide instructional support services.
