Position Overview
Michelle Thomas, M.D., Inc. is seeking a Contract Nurse Practitioner (1099) to join our growing primary care practice in Fresno, California. This role is designed for a motivated provider who values autonomy, efficiency, and high-quality patient care across both clinic and facility settings.
This position will begin under a three-month introductory contract period, allowing both the provider and the practice to establish alignment in workflow, patient care standards, and long-term fit. Following this period, there is strong potential for continued engagement and expanded scheduling based on performance and patient volume.
The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively under physician oversight, supporting continuity of care while maintaining independent clinical judgment within scope of practice.
Scope of Services / Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient evaluations including medical history and physical examinations
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions, with a focus on adult and geriatric populations
- Conduct follow-up visits and medication management
- Provide care within clinic, assisted living facilities, and board and care settings
- Document all encounters accurately and efficiently within the EMR system
- Coordinate patient care and communicate with supervising physician as appropriate
- Deliver patient education on preventive care, treatment plans, and medication adherence
- Participate in telehealth services as needed
Work Structure & Availability
- Independent Contractor (1099) role, not a W-2 position
- Initial scheduling will be flexible and based on clinic needs, with the expectation of establishing consistent weekly availability
- Anticipated schedule growth into regular clinical days as patient volume increases
- Provider may be requested to support both in-office visits and local facility rounds
Compensation Structure
- Compensation is structured on a per-patient basis or agreed contract rate, to be outlined in the formal Independent Contractor Agreement
- Payment terms and schedule will be defined contractually (typically biweekly)
- No benefits are provided under this independent contractor arrangement
Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license
- Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Primary Care equivalent
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently within scope
- Experience in primary care, internal medicine, or geriatric care preferred
- Comfortable working across clinic and facility environments
- Proficient in EMR documentation
- Professional communication and organizational skills
