Michael S. Coffin LLC is a landscape construction and horticultural management company specializing in high-end residential properties throughout New England. We work alongside leading landscape architects and designers to deliver exceptional outdoor spaces with precision and care.
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Driver / Operator / Laborer to support our construction operations. This is a hands-on role involving the transportation of materials and equipment, operation of company vehicles and machinery, and assistance with daily field activities. Construction driving experience is preferred. A Class B CDL is a plus, but experienced non-CDL drivers are encouraged to apply.
This position may also be a great opportunity for newer CDL drivers looking to gain valuable experience hauling materials, towing trailers, and transporting equipment while working alongside experienced drivers.
The ideal candidate is comfortable operating company trucks and work vehicles while navigating active construction sites, urban areas, and residential properties throughout New England. This position involves transporting materials and equipment to and from jobsites, suppliers, and the company yard, towing trailers as needed, and occasionally assisting with the loading, transport, and securement of compact equipment such as skid steers and excavators.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles, trailers, and construction equipment in support of daily operations
- Load, secure, transport, and unload construction materials and equipment
- Assist with hauling and securement of skid steers, compact loaders, excavators, and attachments
- Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections
- Report maintenance, equipment, or safety concerns
- Follow company safety standards and jobsite protocols
- Assist crews with field work and miscellaneous tasks when needed
- Operate skid steers, excavators, and other equipment as needed
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional vehicles, equipment, and jobsites
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license required; Class A or Class B CDL preferred
- Valid DOT Medical Card preferred
- Construction industry driving experience preferred
- Experience operating skid steers, excavators, or similar equipment preferred
- Ability to tow trailers and safely secure loads
- Strong work ethic and willingness to perform physical labor
- Familiarity with the Greater Boston area and New England roadways preferred
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Availability for occasional Saturday work during the construction season
This position typically averages 50–60 hours per week during the construction season.
