Job Description
The Traveling BD Manager - Utilities - Owner's Rep will:
- Develop and execute a national business development strategy focused on utility real estate, facilities, and capital programs
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with investor-owned utilities, positioning the firm as a trusted advisor
- Secure meetings with utility stakeholders to present advisory and project management services
- Support entry onto vendor lists and pursuit of Master Service Agreements (MSAs)
- Engage clients early in planning discussions, prior to formal RFPs
- Leverage CRM tools (HubSpot, ZoomInfo) to manage pipeline, outreach, and account strategy
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align business development efforts with firm growth goals
- Execute marketing initiatives developed by external consultants, including newsletters, blogs, webinars, and lunch-and-learns
- Host and coordinate lunch-and-learn sessions, industry events, and educational presentations
- Travel 30-40% to meet clients, attend networking events, and visit project sites
The Successful Applicant
The Traveling BD Manager - Utilities - Owner's Rep will have:
- 5 years of business development and/or marketing experience within utilities, general contracting, owner's rep, architecture, or related industries
- Proven experience developing strategic accounts with long, enterprise-level sales cycles (12-36 months)
- Strong understanding of utility real estate, facilities, capital projects, or transmission & distribution environments
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships without immediate project commitments
- Experience executing go-to-market strategies and account entry plans
- Comfortable with proactive outreach, networking, and relationship-driven sales
- Experience working with CRM platforms and structured pipelines
- Willingness to travel nationally as needed
