Job Description
- Manage the full project lifecycle including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional engineering teams (electrical, civil, structural, P&C)
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts
- Act as the primary client liaison, ensuring strong communication and satisfaction
- Oversee substation design efforts (69kV-500kV) including AIS and GIS systems
- Review and approve engineering deliverables for quality and compliance (IEEE, NEC, NESC)
- Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve technical and execution challenges
- Support proposal development, scoping, and cost estimating for new work
- Coordinate with construction teams and field personnel for smooth project execution
- Lead internal and external project meetings, reporting on progress and performance
- Oversee procurement and vendor coordination, ensuring timely equipment delivery
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and project team members
The Successful Applicant
A Successful Substation Project Manager Should Have
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
- 5-10 years of experience in substation engineering or project management
- Proven experience managing T&D or substation projects
- Strong understanding of high-voltage systems and utility standards
- Experience working with utilities, EPC firms, or engineering consultancies
- PE license preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Strong leadership and client-facing communication skills
- Competitive hourly rate ranging from $69 to $75 USD.
