Job Description

  • Manage the full project lifecycle including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional engineering teams (electrical, civil, structural, P&C)
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts
  • Act as the primary client liaison, ensuring strong communication and satisfaction
  • Oversee substation design efforts (69kV-500kV) including AIS and GIS systems
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables for quality and compliance (IEEE, NEC, NESC)
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve technical and execution challenges
  • Support proposal development, scoping, and cost estimating for new work
  • Coordinate with construction teams and field personnel for smooth project execution
  • Lead internal and external project meetings, reporting on progress and performance
  • Oversee procurement and vendor coordination, ensuring timely equipment delivery
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and project team members

The Successful Applicant

A Successful Substation Project Manager Should Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
  • 5-10 years of experience in substation engineering or project management
  • Proven experience managing T&D or substation projects
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage systems and utility standards
  • Experience working with utilities, EPC firms, or engineering consultancies
  • PE license preferred (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong leadership and client-facing communication skills
