Job Description
Lead and/or support substation projects from concept through design, construction, and closeoutDevelop and review complete substation design packages, including:
- Physical layouts (plan & elevation views, above and below grade)
- Yard layouts, grounding systems, and lightning protection
- Raceway, conduit, and cable routing designs
- Control building layouts and cable schedules
- One-line and three-line diagrams
- AC/DC power systems and battery sizing
- Protection & control (P&C) schematics
- SCADA and communication systems
- Relay panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable lists
- Grounding and lightning analysis
- Insulation coordination
- Voltage drop, cable sizing, and conduit fill
- Short circuit and load flow (as applicable)

The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3-10 years of substation design experience (utility, EPC, or consulting environment)
- Experience with high-voltage systems (typically 69kV-500kV)
- Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, NESC, NEC)
- Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
- Experience with protection & control systems or relay settings
- EPC project experience or exposure to full project lifecycle
- Competitive hourly rate ranging from $75.00 to $95.00 USD.
