About Our Client

The company is an industrial machinery company focused on precision manufacturing equipment, specifically CNC machine tools. They sell, support, and service high‑precision CNC lathes (turning machines) that manufacturers use to produce small, complex metal parts.

Job Description

  • Develop and support the design of automated equipment and machine accessories.
  • Lead mechanical design activities from initial concept through final implementation.
  • Translate customer requirements into innovative and practical design solutions.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, quality, and functional specifications.
  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, and motion systems.
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings and documentation for manufacturing.
  • Select and specify standard components such as actuators (pneumatic/electric), valves, sensors, motors, and gear systems.
  • Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within an ERP system.
  • Define sequences of operation to support controls development.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and fabricators for sourcing and manufacturability.
  • Participate in or oversee prototype assembly and testing, making refinements as needed.
  • Develop technical documentation, including operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Support equipment installation and commissioning at customer sites, both remotely and onsite.
  • Review and provide feedback on designs created by peers.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to customers after system deployment.
  • Travel to customer locations as required (approximately 5%).

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical machine design, ideally within automation or machine tooling environments.
  • Experience with Swiss-type lathes or similar equipment is advantageous.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatic and electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with fabrication methods and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to create accurate part and assembly drawings with appropriate tolerances.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team setting.
