Job Description
- Lead transmission line design (69kV-500kV) from conceptual through IFC packages
- Perform and review sag & tension analysis, loading calculations, and clearance studies
- Develop and oversee structure spotting, profile sheets, and plan & profile drawings
- Use PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER for detailed engineering analysis
- Design and evaluate steel, wood, and concrete structures including foundations interface coordination
- Perform route selection, corridor optimization, and constructability reviews
- Coordinate with substation, civil, environmental, and permitting teams
- Interface directly with utility clients and ensure compliance with NESC, ASCE, and utility standards (including BPA specifications)
- Provide technical QA/QC for junior and mid-level engineers
- Support construction support services including RFI resolution and field engineering
- HVDC corridor development supporting large-scale renewable energy delivery
- Transmission expansion and reliability upgrades near the Hanford corridor
- Regional 230kV-500kV reconductoring and uprate programs supporting aging infrastructure replacement
The Successful Applicant
A Successful Senior Transmission Line Engineer Should Have
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering
- 8-15 years of transmission line engineering experience
- Advanced proficiency in PLS-CADD (required)
- Strong understanding of NESC, ASCE 74 / 113, and utility transmission standards
- Experience delivering high-voltage (115kV-500kV) transmission projects
- Ability to lead technical design efforts and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
- PE license (or ability to obtain)
- Experience with BPA, PUD, or large utility transmission systems
- Exposure to HVDC, renewable interconnections, or long-distance corridors
- Foundation design or geotechnical coordination experience
- Prior experience acting as technical lead or discipline lead
- Hourly pay range between $70 and $85 USD, commensurate with experience.
