About Our Client

We're partnering with a growing engineering team seeking a Senior Substation Engineer (PE) to lead the design and execution of substation projects. This is a technical leadership role responsible for overseeing both physical layout and protection & control (P&C) design, mentoring junior staff, and serving as a key point of contact for clients.

Job Description

• Lead the design of substation projects from concept through construction, covering both physical layout and P&C design
• Act as the Engineer of Record (PE), sealing and approving engineering deliverables
• Mentor and manage a team of engineers, designers, and CAD staff, providing technical guidance and oversight
• Perform and review engineering calculations, relay settings, and system coordination studies
• Oversee development of drawings, specifications, and bid packages, ensuring quality and accuracy
• Conduct and lead drawing reviews and QA/QC for full design packages
• Serve as a primary client contact, supporting project execution and long-term relationship management
• Support project planning, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
• Provide field and commissioning support, including relay testing and issue resolution as needed
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and best practices

The Successful Applicant

A Successful Senior Substation Engineer (PE) Should Have

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering required
• 5-10 years of substation engineering experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license - required
• Strong experience in both physical substation design and protection & control
• Hands-on experience with relay settings, commissioning, and field support
• Proven ability to lead teams and review/seal engineering work
• Experience developing specifications, bid documents, and construction packages
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with clients and internal teams
• Ability to manage multiple projects and operate with minimal supervision
