Description
- Provide operational leadership to production teams, ensuring performance targets for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity are consistently met.
- Translate performance data into corrective actions, improvement initiatives, and sustainable operating practices.
- Oversee compliance with ISO and internal quality requirements, including active participation in audits and follow-up actions.
- Lead daily and weekly communication routines, setting priorities, reinforcing expectations, and addressing customer and business needs.
- Evaluate workforce levels, skills, and coverage; develop staffing strategies to support current demand and future growth.
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean and CI tools, ensuring issues are addressed at the root cause level and corrective actions are closed effectively.
- Partner with planning and supply chain teams to execute production plans based on material availability, capacity constraints, and demand requirements.
- Maintain visibility of production flow and schedule adherence, using labor and performance tracking tools to manage cell-level output and accountability.
- Establish discipline around standard work, policies, and procedures while developing frontline leaders through coaching and mentorship.
- Analyze capacity, labor utilization, and mix to improve efficiency and balance demand across resources.
- Lead hiring and onboarding activities to ensure the production organization is staffed with capable, engaged team members.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, maintenance, and other functions to remove barriers to execution and improve operational performance.
- Identify and implement proven manufacturing practices that improve throughput, cost, reliability, and consistency.
- Facilitate technical and process reviews to improve operational outcomes and customer delivery performance.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Assess processes with a long-term perspective, developing improvements that enhance stability, repeatability, and output quality.
- Improve inventory accuracy and control through process discipline and system improvements.
- Assume operational leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Operations Manager.
Profile
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Background in mixed-model or medium-volume manufacturing operations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead across functions and levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational setting.
- Leadership approach that is hands-on, visible, and people-focused.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Track record of successfully executing cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience working within ISO or regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Lean, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) preferred.
