Job Description
- Prepare new generator interconnection applications, including conceptual single‑line diagrams, verification of reactive power compliance, and development of steady‑state, dynamic, and short‑circuit models to support application packages.
- Review ISO feasibility and system impact studies and provide guidance to clients who are active interconnection customers.
- Perform independent power system studies-thermal/voltage contingency, transient stability, and short‑circuit analyses-to support generator interconnection planning strategies.
- Conduct advanced grid system studies to evaluate scenarios and impacts for new conventional and renewable generation projects.
The Successful Applicant
A Successful Interconnection Grid Engineer Should Have
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with coursework focused on Power Systems Analysis.
- 3 years of power systems engineering experience, including one or more of the following:
- Knowledge of U.S. power regions and ISOs/RTOs (PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, ISO‑NE).
- Experience modeling inverter‑based resources and renewable generation (WTG, PV, BESS, hybrid systems) using PSS/E, PSLF, and/or PSCAD.
- Experience using transmission planning tools (PSS/E, PSLF, TARA) for load flow modeling and contingency studies.
- Experience with dynamic transient and stability studies in TSAT, EMTP‑RV, or PSCAD (plus).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience writing technical reports and proposals.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and collaborate with others.
- Project planning, coordination, and leadership capabilities.
