Description
As Head of Legal:
- Varied role, hands-on working directly with the asset management team on transactions, providing counsel to the senior leadership team and designing, building and managing a legal and compliance function from the ground up.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide legal guidance on regulatory compliance matters within the banking and financial services department.
- Review and update compliance policies and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure they are updated in line with new regulations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the senior leadership team to ensure alignment with legal and compliance standards, providing varied legal counsel.
- Oversee outside counsel.

Profile
The Head of Legal should have:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in a state bar association.
- Strong knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the asset management, loan workout, loan servicing, CMBS, securitization and relevant audit/ compliance.
- Strong communicator with excellent executive presence.
- Efficient, highly organized, with strong attention to detail.
- Personable, communicative and collaborative, accustomed to working well with cross-functional teams.
