Job Description
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and documents to develop detailed cost estimates
- Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for labor, materials, and equipment
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor bids
- Prepare bid packages, proposals, and conceptual budgets
- Collaborate with project managers and leadership during preconstruction and bid strategy
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions
- Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and estimating tools
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed
- Review scope gaps, risks, and constructability concerns during the estimating process
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness of all estimates
The Successful Applicant
- 3-8 years of estimating experience with a general contractor
- Experience estimating commercial, industrial, or multifamily construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented with strong time management skills
- Effective communicator who can collaborate across departments and with external partners
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Sage, PlanSwift, or similar)
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
- Local or regional construction market knowledge in Central PA preferred
